The immediate context of this infill development is characterised by small scale industrial warehouses and factories lined with an eclectic collection of urban art that breathes freshness into the back streets of this St Peters address. With demand for inner city industrial spaces declining, the demographics of the area are moving towards a coexistence of working and living uses that has seen numerous vacant warehouses cleverly adapted into live/work spaces.

Art House is a new live-work development that explores the union of adaptable working and living spaces within a new multi-level infill development of 8 mixed use spaces. Each live-work space has been designed with creative industries in mind and, as such, to be suitably flexible to optimise adaptability and operability of the internal spaces.

Like the street art already lining the streets of St Peters, the project deliberately offered the community a figurative ‘blank canvas’ to encourage current and future street artists to continue enriching the local streetscape with their work.

‘Our beds are empty two-thirds of the time. Our living rooms are empty seven-eights of the time. Our office buildings are empty one-half of the time. It’s time we gave this some thought…’ – Buckminster Fuller
