Moorebank Sporties

Moorebank Sports Club (Sporties) is a successful community club located in Hammondville that has fostered and supported junior sport in southwestern Sydney since 1970.

Benson McCormack Architecture in association with Innova Capital were engaged to complete a high-level master planning study to address the desired growth expectations of the club’s board beyond the Gregory Hills project. This included investigating a diversification of revenue streams to support the long-term survival of the club, expansion of the existing club facility and an in-partnership management agreement with Liverpool City Council for much needed indoor sporting community facilities in the LGA.

Diversification opportunities identified include:

   - The construction of a new hotel and conference centre that integrates with the recreational, food and bar offerings of the club.

   - A new childcare centre to satisfy the demands of young families in southwestern Sydney for early learning and child-minding services.

   - An indoor sporting facility including courts for basketball, netball, indoor soccer, badminton, and other sporting activities that complement the outdoor sporting codes the club already fosters.

   - An indoor heated swimming pool is also planned for general fitness and recreation while meeting the increasing demand for safe learn-to-swim lessons for young children living in the community and surrounding suburbs.
