Gregory Hills is located within the Southwest Growth Corridor of Sydney and is the first ‘greenfield’ register club approved in NSW for over 3 decades. Gregory Hills Sports Club (Sporties) is the sister club to Moorebank Sports Club in Hammondville which will serve the rapidly expanding population in this area including Oran Park, Harrington Park, Leppington, Smeaton Grange, and other new communities emerging in the area.

Gregory Hills Sporties was conceived in 2016 with the acquisition of a newly created 1.4-hectare commercial zoned property. This new community club was approved by Camden Council in June 2017 for approximately 3000m² of gross floor space with seating capacity for 2300 people and 370 car spaces.

The building is deliberately elevated above at-grade parking to future proof the staging of their expansion strategy, as well as mitigating flood and bushfire risks and optimising the visual presence of the new building when viewed from Gregory Hills Drive. The transparency of the proposed building forms encourages the community and those passing through Gregory Hills to visit this new community meeting place. Moreover, the deliberate optimising of natural light and ventilation drove the high internal amenity outcomes for the numerous internal dining, gaming and bar areas of the facility.

We capitalised on the prominent corner position by designing and placing the distinctive organic form to disguise the outdoor gaming area of the club that is behind. Entry to the club is from Rodeo Road via a generous and convenient porte-cochere pick-up and drop-off.

Construction of Gregory Hills Sporties has been delayed due to pandemic challenges in the sector with plans to commence detailed design occurring in 2023.
